Those at WWE are still trying to make “Main Event” Jey Uso happen by giving him the Intercontinental Championship over Bron Breakker. Now, this isn’t as bad of a move as having Sami Zayn take the belt off of Gunther at WrestleMania 40, but it’s close.

I understand that Jey’s selling merch and people enjoy bouncing around for his entrance, but the guy has a VERY limited move-set (both in quality and quantity) and WWE should not be letting him get the better of premium talent. I agree that Jey has progressed just enough since switching to a singles wrestler, but he’s not that different from the face-painted, war-dancing crowd-panderers of old, let’s not kid ourselves.

I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard that Triple H is honouring his statement about putting Raw back to 2 hours. We still have to deal with Netflix and all the problems that come with that set of buffoons, but a shorter, more focused show should be so much more bearable.

Fingers crossed the number of and the positioning of the adverts don’t drastically disrupt the flow of the show, as modern network television exists to do. Saying that, this iteration of WWE has no problem sticking ads up on the screen and around the ring while the action is ongoing, so I’m expecting some of the most whorish behaviour imaginable.

Before you ask, yes, I can be pleased. Telling the viewer that the match is sponsored by Company-X before the bell and visually reminding us with their logo during the replays and the long beauty shots of the crowd/venue always worked well. There’s no need to plaster the arena with infinite copies of said logo, utterly destroying the PPV/PLE’s branding/decorative theme.

By adhering to the Pure Floozy model, when we look back at highlights/replays of these shows, the identity of the event will be unknown and we’ll think the WWE Undisputed title was fought for at a PLE called Snoop Dogg’s 32789th Endorsement Brand.

The “celebrity” collaborations are worse than ever. Sure, Metro Boomin looked tougher than he usually does because of the shoulders he rubbed against, but Cody didn’t look better stepping out of the WWE world. WWE always does this, mid and post-Vince McMahon eras, and the wrestling talent is more often than not upstaged by the special guest. They’re already airing the adverts for next year’s SummerSlam that heavily features a pornstar posing as a pop star.

WWE Bad Blood Results (2024)

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Hell in a Cell)WWE Bad Blood Results (2024): CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre

Winner: CM Punk (pinfall)

It didn’t take long for Punk and Drew to roll to the outside and use the chain link cell wall as a weapon. Due to how desensitised wrestling fans have become, face-scraping wasn’t enough, and they immediately announced that they wanted tables.

Drew found a toolbox and made use of a wrench that was inside, jabbing it into Punk’s forehead.

Punk’s head started pissing blood once Drew launched him off of his shoulder and into the fencing.

After the first table’s leg broke, Drew set up a second on the outside, which was forgotten about until later. They slogged it out for a bit longer, with Punk busting Drew open via headshots with the toolbox.

Punk hit a GTS, but Drew rolled out of the ring and saved himself.

With both of them beaten and bloody, they slowly climbed to the top where Drew super-plexed Punk through the table he placed earlier.

Drew struggled to get the ring steps through the ropes, but he eventually managed. Before he could use them to cripple Punk, he ate a GTS for a two-count. Drew countered with a White Noise on the steps, but Punk also kicked out at two.

Punk then countered a throw and locked in the Anaconda Vice. Drew grabbed a wrench to get him out of the hold, but Punk blocked it and let go of the submission. This allowed Drew to hit a low blow and then shower Punk with cheap bracelet parts.

Drew went for another Claymore Kick, but when Punk side-stepped, McIntyre’s spine hit the edge of the stairs. That did not look pleasant.

Finally, Punk used this opportunity to wrap a chain around his knee and KO Drew with one final GTS.

Nia Jax vs. Bayley (WWE Women’s Title)

Winner: Nia Jax (pinfall)

The match began with Nia flattening and smothering Bayley for the most part. She ain’t perfect, but Jax has improved by finding little things to do in between big moves. For instance, after knocking her down, she was putting basic holds on Bayley whilst resting all her weight on her to tire her out.

As Nia was going to end things with her Annihilator, Bayley jumped up and got the champ lined up for a powerbomb. However, Nia tried to turn that into a hurrican-rana reversal, which looked sloppy, but the two women carried on as if it landed as intended.

Bayley managed to get on the offensive after dodging some big splashes, but Jax’s power overwhelmed the challenger.

The referee took a bump when Nia fell on her, which allowed Tiffany Stratton to run down and smash Bayley with her MITB briefcase. When Tiff woke the ref up, the confused official assumed the briefcase at her feet was being cashed in. Stratton tried to take her case back, but Nia woke up and saw enough to be suspicious.

Bayley took advantage of the situation and climbed to the top, but Tiffany distracted her long enough for Jax to climb up there too.

One Samoan Drop from the top, followed by her Banzai Drop onto Bayley was more than enough for Nia to retain her belt.

Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor

Winner: Damian Priest (pinfall)

There was nothing bad with the work from either of these lads, but this match didn’t have much to get excited about and was possibly just put on the card to advertise the new Dragon Ball video game.

After a while, the rest of the Judgment Day showed up and distracted Priest. Balor’s Coup de Grace wasn’t enough to put Damian away and Judgment Day were sent packing.

This opened the door for Finn to hit his finish a couple more times, but Damian Hogan was unphased by everything, hit his South of Heaven choke slam and won the match.

Another strong showing for the biggest fake-tough guy in the WWE.

Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley (Women’s World Title)

WWE Bad Blood Results (2024): Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley

Winner: Rhea Ripley (disqualification)

Rhea dominated early on as Dirty Dom watched in fear from the shark cage. Mid Morgan caught Ripley off-guard and damaged her wonky knee.

This didn’t keep Rhea down as she limped around and beat up Morgan.

They tried to make Liv look better in the ring than she is, which is easy to do when she has a fella in training or a meathead like Ripley carrying her weight.

Dom managed to unlock the door to his cage, which looked like it had no merit, but as he showed concern for Liv and leaned over the edge, he fell out. Luckily for Dom, there was a chain caught around his leg and it stopped him from hitting the ground.

Ripley had the chance to finish off Morgan, but she chose to beat the shit out of Dom with a Kendo stick as he hung helplessly upside-down.

While distracted by revenge, Raquel Rodriguez jumped Rhea and forced a disqualification. Big Back Raq then carried Liv out of the ring and to safety.

Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu

WWE Bad Blood Results (2024): Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu

Winners: Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes (pinfall)

Roman got straight back on his horse and continued auditioning for Hollywood roles by emulating the Rock’s facial expressions. Regardless, the crowd were happy to see him back in action.

Cody and Roman got some time to show off their stuff, but the new Bloodline cut off the ring and kept the faces down during the early part of the match.

Sikoa and Fatu tried to keep Roman out of the match, but they couldn’t manage it for long.

So, the other members of the new Bloodline turned up and helped keep Reigns and Rhodes at a disadvantage. That was until a masked individual showed up and super-kicked the two lesser Samoans on the outside.

It turned out to be Drunky Jimmy Uso making the save, which lined Roman up to hit Solo with a Spear and get the winning pin.

Afterwards, Cody was on the rough end of a 4-vs-1 beat-down, when Reigns and Uso ran back and made the save. Once the heels ran off, Roman congratulated Cody and handed his belt back to him.

The moment that Rhodes raised his title, The Rock’s music played and the crowd jumped out of their seats. The People’s Shampion stepped into the arena with his fake title belt, counted to three with his hand and then walked away.

Not a bad PLE.

It was a bit long, and I didn’t like the Hell in a Cell not being the main event, but I understand why they thought The Rock’s return should be on last.

And Another Thing…

It’s sad to see that income in the Ricochet house is a bit tight now that he’s working at AEW, but if Samantha Irvin is looking for some more work, please don’t find stuff where she can pull even more silly faces and hog the spotlight more. I can appreciate the need for a patriotic song to kick things off, but Irvin is already close to being as painful as Aubrey Edwards.

Partway through the show, Triple H turned up to announce that the Crown Jewel Championship is going to be an annual tradition where the main two champions from both sexes face off to fellate the Saudi royals and tourist board determine the better champion at the time.

So, that’ll be two more title belts for fans to spend silly money on and wear as if they’ve earned something instead of just unifying both sets of belts so we have a male champion and a female champion.
